Renowned for its perfect cone shape, the Mayon Volcano in Bicol is one of the most epic natural attractions of the region. It’s located in the Albay region, but it seems to loom in the background no matter where you are. Weeks after leaving Bicol, I was at the top of Mount Guiting Guiting on Sibuyan Island and there she was, Mayon Volcano on the horizon.
Mayon Volcano is still very active and has caused some serious devastation over the years to local families and communities.
There have been some epic photos and videos capturing the volcano when it is active, but while I was there, she was just puffing smoke. I took an ATV tour to Mayon Volcano and my friends and I shot these snaps along the drive. We also shot images of Mayon Volcano from other vantage points throughout our week in Bicol.
We even had a great view of Mayon Volcano as soon as we stepped off the plane!
