Where to Stay in Coron: Which Region is Best for You
Before I share the best resorts in Coron, I’ll quickly summarize the different places to stay within the region. The larger Coron area is quite spread out and consists of several main islands surrounded by many islets. Coron Town itself is located on the island of Busuanga. On either side of Coron Bay from Busuanga are the islands of Culion, and Coron Island itself (confusing, I know). This area around Coron Bay is where you’ll find the majority of the accommodations in this guide. There are a few more remote accommodations though that are well worth the extra travel time.
Here’s a little checklist to start!
- Coron Town Center: If you want a place that’s relatively cheap and accessible to everything, Coron Town is an excellent choice. Located in the South of Busuanga Island, it’s where most people stay, and where the ferry arrives and departs from. The local airport (Francisco B. Reyes Airport) is a half-hour drive north, in the middle of Busuanga Island.
- West Busuanga: The western part of Busuanga is ideal if you’re seeking a private escape in nature, far from crowds. Accommodations here can be a long drive to Coron Town Center, however, and quite remote. You’ll have more of a local experience though.
- South Busuanga: If you’re in Coron for your honeymoon or a posh getaway, the islands south of Busuanga are amazing. These tropical, secluded resorts make for incredible beach holidays. There are a few other luxury island resorts in the North as well.

Two Seasons Coron Island Resort is one of the finest resorts in Coron. Located on a peninsula on Bulalacao Island, guests arrive via a complimentary 45-minute boat ride from Coron Town. Its idyllic setting in the Bay affords sweeping views of turquoise waters, emerald islands, and sunrises and sunsets from its two beaches. Guests can choose from 46 bungalows and casitas scattered across the palm-tree-laden grounds. My recommendation is to book an island-tip bungalow with a private pool.
Apart from its beautiful grounds and well-appointed rooms, the Two Seasons offers a host of amenities. Guests enjoy access to a fitness center, aqua sports, and the Narra Spa. There’s also a karaoke room and the Bahura bar for entertainment, and the Sulu Restaurant for relaxed fine dining. Coron Island is owned by this tribe, and Paolyn is one of the only tourist accommodations they’ve allowed on their land. This special privilege allows guests at Paolyn to enjoy Coron’s famous sites outside of official tour times, providing a nearly private experience.
The accommodations range from simple double rooms to entire houseboats with space for 40 guests. All rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the turquoise lagoon and expansive decks with direct lagoon access. Sangat Island Dive Resort
Sangat Island Dive Resort is my top pick in Coron for scuba divers. This idyllic beach resort occupies the southern half of Sangat Island, a short boat transfer from Coron Town. While its powdery white sand beach and towering limestone cliffs are attractive enough on their own, its proximity to world-class diving is the main draw. With 8 WWII wrecks within a half-hour boat ride and vibrant reefs and lagoons at its doorstep, Sangat is a diver’s dream.
As for accommodations, there are 22 native-style cottages featuring handwoven bamboo walls and nipa palm roofs. My personal recommendations are the Lambingan Villa, or even the Robinson Crusoe cottage for long-term accommodations. These charming rooms offer all the comforts you need between rounds of island exploration. Activities include kayaking, island trekking, and visiting the island’s hidden hot springs. With all it has to offer, Sangat Island Dive Resort is one of the most unique and natural places to stay in Coron.

It’s one of the best places to stay in Coron Town.
The Corto del Mar Hotel provides a full buffet breakfast, with local and international cuisine on offer. Guests can book island-hopping excursions or scuba diving with Corto Divers, or unwind by the pool. Massages can also be arranged, and the resort is a short walk to the shops, restaurants, and ATMs in town. Where is the Best Place to Stay in Coron?
The best place to stay in Coron depends entirely on the kind of traveler you are and the experience you’re seeking. Below, I’ll outline the best places to stay in Coron by what you’re looking for.

The Best Place to Stay in Coron for Convenience
The best place to stay in Coron for convenience is in Coron Town itself. Downtown Coron offers bars, restaurants, convenience shops, and tour desks, and it’s where the tours pick up and drop off from. Personally, I recommend a hotel or resort on the edge of Coron Town or nearby. There are several resorts within a 10-minute tricycle ride into town that provide a secluded atmosphere as well as cheap and easy transportation to town. These include places like Bacau Bay Resort and Coron Soleil Garden Resort.
However, Coron Town itself isn’t as much of a “destination” as some other island hubs like El Nido or General Luna in Siargao. Because of this, I’d personally choose to stay on one of the private island resorts in Coron Bay or Paolyn Houseboats. These would come at an additional 20 – 40 minute boat transfer from town.

The Best Place to Stay in Coron for Beaches
The best place to stay in Coron for beaches is… outside of Coron Town. The town itself doesn’t have any white sandy beaches. This means that if you’re seeking beach time outside of island hopping tours, you should book one of the many beach resorts around Coron Bay. I recommend SETIR, Two Seasons Coron, or Sangat Island. Discovery Coron, on a private island north of Busuanga, is also a great beach resort.

The Best Place to Stay in Coron for Island Hopping
The best place to stay in Coron for Island hopping is in town – for convenient access to the tour departure port, or at a dive resort like Sangat Island or even Paolyn Houseboats. Paolyn’s location on Coron Island itself makes it the number one place to experience the famous lagoons and lakes of Coron. If you want to explore these sites outside of the usual tourist hours, Paolyn is the best choice.

The Best Time to Visit Coron
The best time to visit Coron is during the dry season, from November through May. This period sees dry, stable weather and ideal conditions for tours and sightseeing.

The Best Time to Visit Coron for Island Hopping
The best time to visit Coron for island hopping is between February and April. April experiences a bit less wind (from the Amihan Northeast Monsoon). However, it’s warmer than visiting in December through February and can be unpleasantly hot when on land.

The Best Time to Visit Coron for Good Deals
The best time to visit Coron for good deals on tours and hotels is during the wet season and shoulder seasons, June through October. During this period, the Hagabat Monsoon (Southwest Monsoon) brings warm, humid weather. This isn’t ideal for island hopping or beach days, but it can result in a savings of 20 – 50% off hotel stays and tours. My recommendation is to visit around May or November for the best combination of low fares and decent weather.
The Best Time to Visit Coron for Diving
The best time to visit Coron for diving is during the dry season. Particularly, visibility is said to be best in March and April. During this period, the chances of calm waters and good visibility are the highest, ideal for exploring wrecks and the lagoons and lakes of Coron.

WHERE TO STAY IN CORON TOWN
Coron Town is the base for all of your adventures in Coron. In Coron Town you have the bars, restaurants, transport, places to book tours and you are close to Mt. Tapyas and Maquinit Hot Spring. It is also just a $3 shuttle to the airport. Below are my three picks plus one all-inclusive resort (I’ve stayed multiple times) that includes private island hopping.
- The Funny Lion (Good Atmosphere): The Funny Lion is a boutique resort in Coron that I visited several years ago. Let’s just say that beer from the hot tub with one of the best sunset views in Coron is about as good as it gets. It’s ultra-modern and has a spa, pool, and immaculate rooms. The rooftop bar and dining is an awesome place to be after a long day of island-hopping in Coron.
- Two Seasons Coron Bayside Hotel (Value): Located by the bay in Coron Town, this upscale hotel features an infinity pool which makes for a picture-perfect sunset view (Possibly the best sunset hotel view in Coron). If you want comfort and luxury at the same time this place is for you. It has its own private dock so you just leave straight to the island-hopping tours from your hotel room!
- Casa Fidelis Resort All-inclusive (Includes private island hopping): I had the most amazing stay at Casa Fidelis. The villa had a large patio area that looked out over the garden. Stepping stones led you from the room to the dining area, where we had decadent spreads of gourmet food for every meal. Casa

Hi, thanks for the post - really enjoyed it. You mentioned that Coron town Centre is good for bars, resturants etc. Is it still accessible and cheap to do things like snorkelling and island hopping from it? Thanks a lot.
