Siargao is one of the most popular island destinations in the Philippines, and over the past decade, it’s experienced a rapid boom in tourism. With so many new resorts, hostels, and homestays, it can be overwhelming to choose where to stay in Siargao. For many travelers, though, it’s pretty straightforward. As most of the bars, restaurants, tour operators, and hotels are located between General Luna and the Cloud 9 surf break, that’s where the majority of tourists stay. However, some of my favorite places to stay in Siargao are in the far north and far west. In this blog post, I’ll describe the different areas of the island and the best places to stay in Siargao for your travel needs.
My personal favorites are Lampara Siargao Boutique Hostel for its oceanfront and value for money and Nay Palad Hideaway for its location and luxury.

Where is the Best Place to Stay in Siargao?
The best place to stay in Siargao depends entirely on the kind of traveler you are and the experience you’re seeking. Below, I’ll outline the best places to stay in Siargao by what you’re looking for.

The Best Place to Stay in Siargao for Convenience
The best place to stay in Siargao for convenience is in General Luna, on the main Tourism Road. This ensures you can walk to and from the island hopping departure point as well as a variety of shops and cafes. Personally, I find anywhere between General Luna and Cloud 9 to be very convenient, especially if you rent a motorbike or stay on the main Tourism Road.
My top pics for convenient places to stay in Siargao are Amihan Bungalows for its Cloud 9 location and Prana Siargao Resort or its central location just outside General Luna.

The Best Place to Stay in Siargao for Beaches
The best place to stay in Siargao for beaches is… on the beach! Considering that the island has so many beach resorts, this one’s not too hard. I prefer the beaches outside of General Luna, either in Malinao or all the way north in Pacifico or Alegria Beach.
My favorite beach resort near Cloud 9 is Punta Punta Surf Retreat. My favorite beach resort in Pacifico is Bamboo Surf Beach. And my favorite beach resort in Alegria is DaRosa Del Mar. It’s worth noting that most people enjoy the best beaches in Siargao during their island hopping tours!

The Best Place to Stay in Siargao for Island Hopping
The best place to stay in Siargao for Island hopping is in town – for convenient access to the tour departure port, or near Sohoton Cove, at Club Tara Island Resort. I stayed overnight in the region back during my first visit to Siargao, and it was an incredible way to experience the lagoons and coves without other tourists around.

The Best Time to Visit Siargao
The best time to visit Siargao depends on what you’re visiting for! Generally, the best time to visit is during the dry season, from February to May. This period sees dry, stable weather and ideal conditions for tours and sightseeing. This is a great time to visit popular tourist destinations in Siargao like Sugba Lagoon, Magpupungko Rock Pools, and Guyam Island.

The Best Time to Visit Siargao for Surfing
The best time to visit Siargao for surfing is between August and November. During this period, Cloud 9 experiences peak conditions. If you’re an experienced surfer and want to surf one of the world’s most famous breaks, this is the best time to visit!

The Best Time to Visit Siargao for Island Hopping
The best time to visit Siargao for island hopping is between March and May. This period has the most stable weather, with consistently warm and sunny days that are perfect for island hopping. You can also expect clear waters.

The Best Time to Visit Siargao for Good Deals
The best time to visit Siargao for good deals on tours and hotels is during the wet season and shoulder seasons, from November through January. The waves are still decent, and there are fewer tourists around due to the slightly wetter weather. On my first trip to Siargao, we stayed for 40 days during this period and had a great time. However, we got hit by two typhoons at the end of the stay that nearly stranded us there for Christmas!

Conclusion: Where to Stay in Siargao
That’s it for my complete guide to where to stay in Siargao. From luxury resorts to cozy homestays, these are the best places to stay in Siargao. Hopefully, you’ve found the ideal place for your upcoming stay! If you’re looking to get a bit more value out of your stay, try my Best Hostels in Siargao or Best Cheap Hotels in Siargao guide! Best Time to Visit Siargao Island
Siargao Island, Philippines is renowned for its beautiful beaches, great surf spots, and lush landscapes. It’s considered as a year-round travel destination, but the optimal time to visit would depend on what you’re looking to do:
- Weather: The best weather in Siargao typically occurs during the dry season, from March to October. During these months, you can expect less rain and more sunny days. It’s ideal for outdoor activities like surfing, island hopping, or exploring the island’s natural beauty.
- Surfing Season: If you are interested in surfing, the peak surfing season is August to November, with the biggest waves typically appearing in September and October. The most famous surfing spot on the island is Cloud 9, which has held international surfing competitions.
- Peak Tourist Season: The peak tourist season in Siargao is during the dry season, particularly in the months of March, April, and May. These coincide with the summer vacation period in the Philippines. During this time, the island can get pretty crowded. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, consider visiting during the shoulder months like February, June or November.
- Off-Peak Season: If you want to avoid crowds and get better deals on accommodation, consider visiting during the off-peak season from November to February. However, these months also coincide with the rainy season so there might be a few rainy days.

Hi Jackson,
Thanks for writing the extensive guides on Siargao and for staying with us the last time you visited. We've finished building Lubihan Siargao, cleaned up the creek and finished landscaping, too. We hope to see you again next time!

Thanks for your blog, it is really helpful! We have 2 weeks and are thinking about Siargao, should we stay in one place or would you suggest moving around to different areas to break up the stay?
