Kathmandu is the base camp for tourists and there are plenty of things to see and do such as visiting temples, restaurants, shops, nightlife, and sightseeing. If it is your first time visiting Kathmandu, Chhetrapati is the ideal area for you to stay. If you are traveling on a budget, Naya Bazaar would be the right choice, and the area of Thamel (my favorite) if you opt to be central and experience a bit of nightlife.

Aloft Kathmandu Thamel (Room with a view): This is where I always stay! It’s a great base in between treks and it’s always full of people relaxing before or after expeditions. The gym and buffet breakfast is worth it alone and the location is right in the heart of Thamel.
It’s a good mix of luxury with value compared to the more expensive 5-star hotels in Kathmandu. Welcoming guests with world-class facilities and services, Aloft Kathmandu Thamel has it all.
The hotel proudly stands in the heart of Thamel, it offers a wide range of facilities such as an indoor pool, enormous meeting rooms, a business center, a well-equipped gym that I use daily, a fancy restaurant, and a bar. There is free private parking on-site as well as a complimentary fast Wi-Fi connection (that works!).
I personally love the amazing city views from the room as it shows spectacular views of the mountains and the cityscape. This luxury Kathmandu hotel is also ideal for business travelers.

HOTEL MULBERRY
Hotel Mulberry (Luxury): Set in near the heart of Thamel, this 4.5-star boutique hotel is by far the best-value luxury hotel in Kathmandu. The location is amazing with walking distance to top restaurants, cafes, hiking gear stores, and the cultural sites of Kathmandu.
I stayed here twice and would go back again. My favorite things about this hotel are the incredible rooftop infinity pool and a 360-degree view of the entire Kathmandu region. You’ll be blown away at sunrise and sunset as this 8th-floor view is higher than most in Kathmandu and has unobstructed views. The breakfast is amazing with a huge variety of healthy options and machine coffee.
The WiFi worked great and throughout my stay I had such a great time that it’s easy for me to place this hotel at the top of the list of where to stay in Kathmandu.
