WHERE IS BANAH CLIFF VIEWPOINT

To reach Banah Cliff Point, you need to travel to Nusa Penida, a stunning island located southeast of Bali, Indonesia. From Bali, you can take a fast boat or ferry to Nusa Penida. Once you arrive on the island, you can hire a scooter or car to explore its scenic landscapes. Banah Cliff Viewpoint is situated on the southwestern coast of Nusa Penida, near the village of Karang Dawa. The journey from Toya Pakeh (the main port) takes about 45 minutes by scooter. I’ve pinned the exact location on the map below.

WHY VISIT THE BANAH CLIFFS

  • Magnificent Views: Banah Cliff Point offers panoramic vistas of the Indian Ocean, where the deep blue hues blend seamlessly with the clear skies. It’s a perfect spot to witness breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.
  • Pristine Natural Beauty: The cliff boasts untouched natural beauty, with lush greenery clinging to the rugged limestone formations. It’s a paradise for photographers and nature lovers alike.
  • Serene Atmosphere: Unlike popular tourist destinations, Banah Cliff Point provides a tranquil and serene environment, allowing you to immerse yourself in the soothing sounds of crashing waves and gentle sea breezes.

WHY I ENJOYED BANAH CLIFF POINT

The beauty of Banah Cliff Point is how quiet it is. Compared to the chaos and popularity of Kelingking Beach or Thousand Island Viewpoint, Banah Cliff Viewpoint is a place you can actually hang out, chill out and enjoy the sunset.

The rock arch sits just off the coastline, and is the focal point of the view. On rough days, the ocean smashes into the rock creating a wild atmosphere. On calm nights, the last light hits the arch as the sun drops into a dark purple hue in a relaxing end to the day.

Banah Cliff Point is the lesser-known viewpoint but one of my favorites when it comes to sunset spot on Nusa Penida. In both directions along the cliffs, you have incredible scenes with massive drop-offs down to the ocean below.

BANAH CLIFF VIEWPOINT ENTRANCE FEE

As of 2023, there is no entrance fee to Banah Cliff Point although you may have to pay a small fee depending on where you choose to park your moped. There are some small food vendors in the parking lot who would benefit from a sale on their snacks, which will likely help to keep the entrance fee for years to come.

BANAH CLIFF POINT OPENING HOURS

As of 2023, the opening hours of Banah Cliff Viewpoint is … all day. This is very handy because it means you can get some great golden hour lighting for photos at either sunrise or sunset. However, because the Banah Cliffs face to the west, it is best for sunset.

How to get to the Nusa Islands

There are three main options to get to Nusa Penida depending on your budget and how many logistics you want to manage. Here are the three options with the cheapest first:

  1. Book your ticket: Sanur (Bali) to Nusa Lembongan – Book a regular ferry that leaves from Sanur to Nusa Penida on the reliable website 12go. You then need to moped or taxi across to Nusa Penida via another ferry/boat.
  2. Book a fast boat: Sanur (Bali) to Nusa Penida – This option is great as you go direct from Bali to Penida without having to stop in Lembongan. This option is only slightly more expensive than stopping in Lembongan. This is my favorite option of the three and can be booked on Klook.
  3. Book a fast boat with hotel pick-up: Sanur (Bali) to Nusa Penida – This option includes a fast boat from Sanur (Bali) to Nusa Penida but also includes pick-up from your hotel in Bali in a van. This option from GetYourGuide is a bit more expensive but takes all the hassle out of the transit from Bali to Nusa Penida.
