TOP 10 CHEAPEST HOTELS IN WAIKIKI ON OAHU, HAWAII
Okay, so let’s dive in and get going with this list of the (best) cheapest hotels in Waikiki. I think you’ll be surprised how many great swimming pools are on the list.
Aqua Oasis Hotel (Family Pick): Aqua Oasis is a 3-star hotel in the center of Waikiki. It is within walking distance of everything such as restaurants, main shopping, and Waikiki Beach. It has a tropical theme and offers tastefully decorated, spacious rooms that come with a mini-fridge, coffee maker, en-suite bathroom with a bathtub, and a balcony. Some rooms have a fully-equipped kitchenette and couches.
The swimming pool is a bit small but who needs a massive pool if you can just walk to the beach, right? These are the small details that make it one of the best cheap hotels in Waikiki rather than doubling its price due to a larger pool. Plus, the property provides guests free beach towels and chairs for daily use, unlike bigger resorts that charge for all the extras. Also, a delicious continental breakfast is included in the price. This hotel is perfect for a family.
RAMADA PLAZA BY WYNDHAM WAIKIKI
Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Waikiki (Value for Money): This 3-star hotel is only a stroll away from Waikiki Beach and Ala Moana Shopping Center. Ramada Plaza by Wyndham has 198 spacious rooms, a pretty outdoor pool, a fitness center, and a business center. Each room is outfitted with flat-screen cable TV, mini-fridge, chair, desk, coffee maker, and in-room safe.
At the property, guests can enjoy a tasty meal and drinks at their in-house restaurant and bar. They also have free coffee and tea in the lobby every morning. Overall, this is a pretty good option as an affordable hotel in Waikiki. I think this is one of the top swimming pools when we consider this list of the top cheapest hotels in Waikiki Beach. It’s definitely a value for money choice.
HOTEL LA CROIX WAIKIKI
Hotel La Croix Waikiki (Excellent Location): Fantastic view, amazing breakfast, and excellent location are what Hotel La Croix offers to its guests. It is only a short walk to Waikiki Beach. The hotel has a small, Insta-worthy swimming pool with a stunning view of Waikiki’s scenery.
If you stay here, I would recommend booking a room on the 16th floor as the balcony view is incredible. Breakfast is included during your stay, which is an added value bonus. I actually think this one great value considering it is one of the more luxurious hotels on this list. The price doesn’t reflect the amazing pool and modern setup of this hotel so it’s one of the best budget hotels in Waikiki Beach.
IMPERIAL HAWAII RESORT
Imperial Hawaii Resort (Great Amenities): Not a luxury hotel, but certainly an awesome cheap hotel in the heart of Waikiki. Imperial Hawaii Resort has a wide selection of suite rooms. Each room comes with a balcony, a sofa bed, and an LCD TV. Guests can take advantage of their free valet parking and Wi-Fi throughout the property.
The outdoor swimming pool is gorgeous, the spa tub is divine, and the sauna is a nice perk. Keep in mind you are very close to the beach itself. There is also a restaurant on-site, as well as a gym, coffee shop, snack bar, and guests can enjoy a drink at the bar lounge. Other services include cleaning/laundry, concierge services, and tour assistance.
THE SURFJACK HOTEL & SWIM CLUB
The Surfjack Hotel & Swim Club (Value for Money): The Surfjack Hotel & Swim Club offers a laid-back, tropical-inspired accommodation option in the center of Waikiki. This boutique hotel is meticulously designed by local artists which gives a refreshing, retro-modern vibe.
From its oval-shaped outdoor pool to impressive murals and wallpaper, everything is handcrafted and designed with passion. Hands down, this hotel is absolutely value for money and is one of the more modern designs you will find in a hotel in Waikiki! How epic is the outdoor pool! I would be stoked about this pool area and the modern furniture in the rooms considering this is one of the cheapest hotels in Waikiki.
Hotel Renew (Excellent Location): In Waikiki, there are few reasonably-priced hotels with direct beach access yet Hotel Renew stands out from the rest. It’s one of the most inexpensive hotels in Waikiki Beach but is still super modern and classy. If you don’t want to spend much on accommodation, this hotel is probably your best pick.
This boutique hotel offers guests cozy rooms with beach views. There’s no pool, which is one reason the price is so low, but you are right next to the beach. The property also serves a free continental breakfast. This is also a pet-friendly hotel so you can tag along that furry friend of yours.
- No pool so the price is cheaper
- Very classy interior and design
- Free continental breakfast
POLYNESIAN RESIDENCE WAIKIKI BEACH
Polynesian Residence Waikiki Beach (Cozy/ Big Rooms): Polynesian Residence is a small boutique accommodation right in the heart of Waikiki, one block away from the beach. This newly-renovated hotel offers lavish, immaculately clean rooms and suites with a flat-screen TV, coffee maker, executive work desk, in-room safe, toaster, microwave, and most rooms have private balconies with furniture.
Rooms are spacious, especially the family suites. Yoga and lei-making classes are offered for free on-site. The popular Fort DeRussy Beach, top-notch shopping, exquisite dining, and nightlife are very close to the hotel.
HILTON GARDEN INN WAIKIKI BEACH
Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki Beach (Great Location): The hotel is within great proximity to some of the top attractions in Waikiki such as Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium, and the popular Waikiki Beach. Hilton Garden Inn offers 24-hour dining and room service as well as a gift shop, business center, concierge, a beautiful garden, and nightly entertainment.
On the rooftop deck, guests take pleasure in the heated pool. It’s perfect for night swims with a Mai Tai in hand. The happy hour is from 12 P.M. until 2 P.M. at Hang 10 Bar & Grill. Each room is fitted with everything you need including a private balcony boasting a sweeping view of the city and the beach. I can’t recommend this hotel enough as one of the top cheapest hotels in Waikiki!
HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS WAIKIKI
Holiday Inn Express Waikiki – Location/Facilities: This 44-story hotel offers perfect panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and is near beaches, restaurants, shopping centers, and other attractions. With a mini-golf course, epic rooftop pool, and games center you really get an experience at the Holiday Inn. It’s way, way cheaper compared to all other regular hotels in Honolulu.
The rooms are actually super nice so if you are a couple or a small family this would be my number one pick on this list.
Shoreline Hotel Waikiki (Value for Money): Shoreline Hotel is a newly-refurbished hotel that is located a few blocks away from Waikiki Beach. Known as the most colorful hotel in Hawaii, this neon-themed property offers a restaurant, rooftop pool, and clean rooms. Each room comes with a balcony, a welcome pack treat, a work desk, a mini-fridge, and more.
The fun kicks in from the moment you enter the lobby and goes all the way to the rooftop pool! You’ll see stunning murals on the walls leading up to the rooftop. They also provide free towels to all guests and some refreshments in the lobby. Other amenities include free laundry/dry-cleaning service and Wi-Fi. This hotel is an ideal base if you are in Waikiki and don’t want to spend much on accommodation.
