THE WEEKLY #291: BACK TO KATHMANDU

THE WEEKLY #291: BACK TO KATHMANDU

After five months of nonstop expeditions in Pakistan and Nepal, the year of climbing was finally coming to a close. While the adventures have been awesome, five months of living in a tent take its toll on you.

After finishing the Ama Dablam climb, we decided to trek out to Lukla over three days and then fly back to Kathmandu. I always love trekking out after a climb as it gives you time to soak it all in and slowly decompress after the high-adrenaline nature of climbing. We spent a night in Tengboche and then a night in Namche Bazaar, which had me reminiscing about my Everest Base Camp trek almost five years ago.

Back in Kathmandu, I had time to get into writing and editing, which is always a fun way to wrap up an expedition. The first article I got onto was about our climb of Island peak, which you can check out here: CLIMBING ISLAND PEAK

Then it was onto the main article about Ama Dablam, which I think is one of the most comprehensive and in-depth guides about climbing Ama Dablam. There are almost 100 photos on offer in that article many from the drone or new and unique articles. I’m pretty proud of this article and you can check that one out here: CLIMBING AMA DABLAM

Other than the writing and editing, it was my last week with Pema before we both headed off back to our families for Christmas. I’m planning to get back into Australia and spend a solid month there after being out of the country for almost two years.

Hope you are all having a good week and getting up to some solid adventures to finish off the year.
