Best Time to Visit Bora Bora
The best time to visit Bora Bora depends on what you’re looking for! But generally, the best time to visit Bora Bora is from May to October, the cooler dry season. The temperatures range from the mid-70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit (mid-20s to high-20s Celsius), and there’s less humidity and precipitation. With better weather, it’s the best time to visit Bora Bora.

April and November can also be good times to visit, as the shoulder season offers decent weather, fewer crowds, and much lower prices compared to the peak season.
Bora Bora is a tropical climate, meaning there are occasional showers and storms even in the dry season. The wet season, from November to April, sees higher temperatures, increased humidity, and a greater chance of rainfall and tropical storms.

Best Time to Visit for Whales
For those planning on visiting Moorea to swim with the humpback whales, whale season is August – October. During this time, humpback whales migrate from the rich feeding grounds of Antarctica to the warm and protected waters around Moorea. There, they mate and give birth. It’s one of the few places in the world where people can swim with humpback whales, and it’s an unforgettable experience for most.
Moorea is only a short domestic flight from Bora Bora, and it’s well worth the visit. For the best chance at good weather and great encounters, I recommend staying at least a few days with multiple tours booked.

Best Time to Visit for Surfing
Bora Bora doesn’t have the world-famous surf of Tahiti, but for those determined to surf at this atoll, July to September see the best conditions. Teavanui Pass and Motu Piti Aau are two local surf spots – but they’re not recommended for beginners. For those willing to travel, Tahiti, Raiatea, and Huahine are great spots to do so. May to August is the prime time for Teahupoo, generally known as the world’s heaviest wave.

Best Bora Bora Resorts
In my experience, the best Bora Bora resorts are The Four Seasons and InterContinental Thalasso for their incredible views of Mt Otemanu (and of course their water villas). The “best” resort is largely up to personal preference though.

Affordable Bora Bora Resorts
Oa Oa Lodge is the most affordable Bora Bora resort, followed closely by Maitai Polynesia for it’s best value overwater rooms! Affordable is also in perspective of the $2000+ nightly rates for the luxury Bora Bora hotels. While none of the hotels in Bora Bora are cheap, they are a bucket-list experience!

All-Inclusive Bora Bora Resorts
All-inclusive Bora Bora resorts are a bit of misnomer. Many hotels do offer meal & board packages, with add-ons for special occasions, but there are no bundled flight, accommodation, meals and activities like in Caribbean destinations. The Four Seasons offers “Unwind & Dine” packages, The Conrad Bora Bora Nui offers “Breakfast Included” and on-property credit packages, The Intercontinental offers “Dinner, Bed, & Breakfast” packages, etc.

Conclusion
That’s it for the best resorts in Bora Bora! Whether you’re planning a honeymoon, a diving trip, or a family excursion, I hope you’ve found the perfect resort for your upcoming trip.
