THE WEEKLY #124: THE MOALBOAL GRIND

THE WEEKLY #124: THE MOALBOAL GRIND

I wish this was a post about the best coffee in Moalboal but it is in fact, about week three of the training program. You know those times when you go way too hard like a madman and then your body hates you for it. Welcome to week three.

Josh and I are running 85km a week, swimming 10km and hitting the gym at night four times a week. It’s my third week of this program and I’m starting to look like a miniature Rich Roll but I’m also fatiguing! It’s a battle to wake up at 5 am each morning when your body just wants a day off but our only day off is Sunday and we use that day for trekking or a waterfall adventure so it has been a pure hustle.

A few people have asked me this week how I fit it all in but they only see the tip of the iceberg. I think I’m starting to realize just how much we are doing physically and still combining an insane amount of work, content, and collaborations. For example, on Saturday we woke up at 4 am, drove an hour to a palm tree hill. Shot Jeep content for a collaboration for three hours. That might be enough for many but we then went an ran a half-marathon in the stinging sun. We then combine the gym and the swim somewhere in the rest of days like this. Other collaborations, blog posts, Adventure Bag content, and promotions find their way into the mix as well.

I guess the hard part is managing it all and not taking on too much. Ambitious people often break down because they love a challenge and they can get it all done. However, at some point, they have a bit of a meltdown because it is just too much to handle mentally and even physically. They need time to breathe. I’m very aware of this and try and read the ebb and flow of the strains I put on myself. However, at the same time, I routinely put myself under strain in order to push myself to new limits. Like everything in life it always comes back to B A L A N C E.

The key is to pus yourself out of our comfort zone but find the manageable limits whereby you can handle the stress. With experience, we begin to understand how far and when to push the envelope and reach for more. There is no glory in taking on too much or fighting hard for a week only to fall down for the next three. We strive for consistency.

As always we enjoyed a few waterfalls here in South Cebu on our ‘days off’. I’m blessed to be based in waterfall heaven and definitely don’t take it for granted.

One of the big events of the week was the Adventure Bag Adventure Day in Cebu City at Budlaan Falls. I wrote a big wrap-up of the event with all the photos that you can check out by clicking the article highlight below.
