Sri Lanka put on a show for us today with some spectacular colors in the sky making our adventures in Sigiriya very memorable.
At 4 am we started the day with a short hike up Pidurangala. We arrived an hour before the sun rose but hung out with the local dogs as the sun slowly crept upon us. Golden hues lit up our morning while the Unesco Heritage site, Sigiriya Rock, slowly revealed itself. It’s one of the most incredible, historic sites in Sri Lanka.
We had a rest during the day at the Sigiriya Hotel before we planned our next move, which would be to climb Sigiriya Rock. It’s the most popular tourist attraction in Sri Lanka and a site over 1500 years old.
We were once again treated to a beautiful sunset. It seemed to have died off before the sky went wild with deep reds and purples.
