Where are the Overwater Bungalows in Mexico?
Most of the overwater bungalows in Mexico are located in Playa del Carmen! Three are located in Mayakoba, between El Camaleón Mayakoba Golf Course and Mayakoba Beach. It’s the most exclusive address in Playa del Carmen and features white sandy beaches and a championship golf course. Palafitos and Casa de la Playa are on either end of Playa del Carmen. Akalki however, is located in Bacalar, 4 hours away from the other resorts.
Are there any Affordable Overwater Bungalows in Mexico?
The most affordable overwater bungalows in Mexico are at Akalki. It’s a great pick for a no-frills overwater experience in a less touristy location. Overwater rooms are around $500 per night. Generally, the overwater bungalows in Mexico are pretty pricey. They’re priced similar to water villas in Tahiti and the Maldives (except those locations have a few more budget friendly options).
Which is the Best Overwater Bungalow in Mexico?
While largely up to personal preference, my favorite overwater bungalow in Mexico is Palafitos due to its traditional overwater bungalow style: private plunge pools, glass floors, overwater hammocks, and butler service! All that set over a turquoise lagoon is exactly what you think of when imagining an overwater bungalow.
When should I book an Overwater Bungalow in Mexico?
If you’re staying in the overwater bungalows in Mexico near Playa del Carmen, the best time to travel is between December and March, when the weather is the best. To make the most of your overwater stay, it can be best to avoid the rainy season, June to November. That said, hotels will usually be less busy and more affordable during that time!
