BEST OVERWATER BUNGALOWS IN ARUBA AND NEARBY
The following are the 16 best overwater bungalows in Aruba and nearby. While there’s only one traditional overwater resort in Aruba, Aruba Ocean Villas, there are a few beachfront hotels on the island that provide suites just steps from the sand. And if you’re open to other Caribbean destinations, I’ve listed the best overwater bungalows near Aruba.

Aruba Ocean Villas
With its palatial villas, aesthetic design, and bohemian charm, Aruba Ocean Villas is home to incredible overwater bungalows in Aruba. They actually happen to be the only overwater suites on the island, and far eclipse most overwater resorts in the Caribbean. Guests here can expect uniquely designed villas with gorgeous driftwood decor, private infinity pools, oversized soaking tubs, and overwater hammocks. Each villa provides ample opportunies to lounge in the sun, in the water, or in luxuriously canopied beds and cabanas. Redefining overwater living, these villas are a class above the rest.
As for amenities, guests can unwind with spa treatments at the Mangrove Cabana, experience overwater dining by candlight, or explore the lagoon with complimentary water sports. Guests can also soak up the sun on the property’s Bali-inspired beach loungers, or visit one of the many world-class beaches in Aruba. With its gorgeous villas and attention to detail, Aruba Ocean Villas is the perfect place to savor the sun. Without a doubt, it’s an impressive debut for overwater bungalows in Aruba.

The Ritz-Carlton Aruba
While not overwater, The Ritz is one of Aruba’s finest properties and one that’s sure to satisfy your craving for an indulgent island getaway. Set on the picturesque Palm Beach, The Ritz offers an array of well-appointed suites with locally inspired decor. The Club Level Oceanfront Suites are my top recommendation to enjoy the seaside locale. The Club Level rooms provide distinctive perks such as Lounge Access, a dedicated concierge, and a rotating presentation of culinary treats.
As one of the finest addresses in Aruba, The Ritz provides guests with a wealth of amenities. The resort offers a state-of-the-art fitness center, the rejuvenating Ritz-Carleton Spa, and a dazzling casino. Guests can savor dining at one of 5 on-site venues, or unwind at either of the 2 beachfront pools. For the ultimate island experience, I recommend the ground floor Tara Suites, just steps from the sand.
The resort itself offers a refined set of amenities. There are complimentary wellness activities scheduled daily, a fitness center, the Purun Spa, cosmetic treatments, and even a chiropractic practice onsite. Guests can savor private dining in a beachside cabana, watch movies under the stars, or book a number of curated activities. Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort
Renaissance Wind Creek is a dual-property resort in the heart of Aruba. It offers the best of both worlds with a hotel and marina in downtown Oranjestad and a private island resort on Renaissance Island. The hotel doesn’t offer overwater villas, but Renaissance Island is home to picturesque overwater cabanas along a private breach. What’s more, the famous pink flamingos of Aruba are just next door, providing plenty of birdwatching opportunities.
For a nearly overwater water experience, I recommend booking a suite on Renaissance Island. The island is far more green and lush than Aruba’s mainland and offers a private beach not unlike those found at overwater resorts. It’s an idyllic way to spend a week in paradise. As for amenities, guests can enjoy any of 8 dining options serving international cuisine, or sip sundowner cocktails at the Mangrove Beach Bar. With its secluded island appeal and convenient downtown access, The Renaissance Wind Creek is a welcome substitute for those seeking overwater bungalows in Aruba.

Where are the Overwater Bungalows in Aruba?
The only overwater bungalows in Aruba are located at Aruba Ocean Villas, just opposite Seaglass Island in the south of Aruba. The resort is far from the usual tourist centers along the North of the Island, primarily along Palm and Eagle Beach (where The Ritz and Bucuti & Tara are located). Renaissance Wind Creek on the other hand has a hotel in downtown Oranjestad and suites on Renaissance Island. I’d rate Renaissance Island as the best location among the Aruba hotels, and Oranjestad as the worst (speaking from personal experience).

Are there any Affordable Overwater Bungalows in Aruba?
The overwater bungalows in Aruba are relatively pricey (as they generally are worldwide). However, I find they provide more value than the all-inclusive mega-resorts that offer overwater suites. Panama has several more affordable overwater resorts. Read about them here, or try my Best Cheap Water Villas In The Maldives guide.

What are the Best Overwater Bungalows near Aruba?
While that’s largely up to personal preference (and budget), if Aruba Ocean Villas isn’t your style, Palafitos in Mexico or Sandals St. Vincent, both offer incredible overwater suites. For a more laidback overwater experience, I’d recommend one of the eco resorts in Belize or Panama, like Thatch Caye Resort or Azul Over-the-Water Resort. That said, I do consider the overwater bungalows in Aruba to be among the best in the Caribbean.

When should I book an Overwater Bungalow in Aruba?
The best time to book overwater bungalows in Aruba is between mid-January to May, in the middle of Aruba’s dry season. We traveled there during September and had great weather through. Aruba is located in the far south of the Caribbean, below the hurricane belt – making it an ideal island destination even during the hurricane season.
