10 Best Maldives Water Villas With A Glass Floor

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the Maldives is paradise on earth. Lush tropical palms meet crystal clear waters. Brilliant white sands stretch out in between, and rich coral gardens await offshore. With all this natural beauty, it’s no wonder overwater bungalows and glass floors have taken off in the Maldives. The Tahitian import has since become synonymous with barefoot luxury in the archipelago. Nearly every new resort in the Maldives features overwater bungalows with glass-bottom features. So which is the best water villa in the Maldives with a glass floor? Keep reading to find out!

My personal favorites are Six Senses Laamu for its surf break and luxury and Adaaran Club Rannalhi for its large glass panel.

MALDIVES WATER VILLA GLASS FLOOR

I’ve listed the 10 best Maldives water villas with glass floors below, including a table with current prices. Following that, is a section with a detailed review of each property. Surprisingly, all of these resorts have awesome water villas with glass floors despite the price difference.

At the present time, these rates reflect the lowest per night cost for rooms with glass floors. I tried to exclude the ultra-luxury suites found at many of the resorts. Most of those are upwards of $5,000/ night and nearly all include glass-bottom features.

If you want to see them anyway, you can read my Best Overwater Bungalows in the Maldives guide. All of the rates listed below include at least breakfast, but most do not include transfers from Male. If these are a bit out of budget, then try my Best Affordable Resorts in the Maldives guide.

10 AMAZING WATER VILLAS IN THE MALDIVES WITH A GLASS FLOOR

The Maldives has some of the best marine life in the world. The turquoise waters and colorful coral are a diver’s dream come true. Therefore it’s no surprise that water villas and glass floors have become ubiquitous in the Maldives. What’s more, as resorts continue to compete, the villas have become more and more opulent. Almost all the mega-suites in the Maldives offer some sort of glass floor, but here are my favorite (nearly) standard overwater rooms with glass-bottom features. The resorts are priced high to low, but all of them have an awesome Maldives water villa with a glass floor.

Waldorf Astoria Maldives

The Waldorf Astoria Maldives is a new jewel in the island archipelago. Located in the South Male Atoll, guests arrive via a 40-minute yacht journey from Male. The Waldorf makes the list because its entry-level water villa has a glass floor dressing room. Entry-level is a strong word though, as its most humble offering is still more extravagant (and expensive) than many of the top-tier suites at other resorts.

Although it’s home to one of the largest overwater bungalows in the world, even its standard water villa offers glass floors, a private pool, and an overwater hammock. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring the beautiful outdoors in. Coupled with gorgeous grounds and unparalleled service, the Waldorf Astoria boasts the best standard Maldives water villa with a glass floor.

W Maldives

The W Maldives sits on a private island in the North Ari Atoll. It’s a 25-minute flight or a 1.5-hour speedboat transfer from Male. The W showcases a collection of amazing overwater bungalows. In fact, overwater categories to choose from are Fabulous, Spectacular, and WOW! Obviously, each room features a private plunge pool, ocean access, and plenty of wow factor. And without a doubt, the glass floors found in the WOW rooms are some of the best in the Maldives.

There’s also plenty on offer at the resort too. Guests can pamper themselves at the AWAY spa or lounge by the pool. Activities include watersports, yoga classes, and aqua aerobics. There are four restaurants to choose from, as well as two bars. Together with the signature W personality and style, this resort provides an awesome Maldives water villa with a glass floor.

Lily Beach Resort & Spa

Lily Beach Resort is on every list for the best Maldives water villa with a glass floor. In truth, it makes me assume no one’s actually doing any research writing these articles, but here’s the scoop anyway. Located in the South Ari Atoll, Lily Beach Resort is a 25-minute seaplane journey from Male. To point out, the resort does not offer glass floors in all room categories. Its iconic photo of the bride on the glass floor is found in the Deluxe Water Suite with Private Pool. This is a pretty pricy upgrade from their standard overwater room, but so were the WOW rooms at the W. The W added a lot more glass panels though!

Meanwhile, guests at the resort have a healthy selection of activities and amenities. Firstly, the overwater Tamara spa offers a variety of therapies. The resort also provides snorkeling equipment for guests to explore the in-house reef. Lily’s location is convenient to more than 50 dive sites, making it an excellent choice for divers. With all these amenities and that famous glass entry, Lily Beach Resort is a great pick for Maldives glass floor water villas.

Sun Siyam Iru Fushi

Sun Siyam Iru Fushi is set in the Noonu Atoll, a 45-minute seaplane flight from Male. Given that it’s known for a fabulous house reef, it’s no surprise that glass bottom floors are featured in all overwater rooms. The panels are excellent for swimming under, and likewise, make for great wildlife viewing. In addition, guests on the island enjoy amenities a-plenty. The house spa offers eastern and western healing treatments, and an adults-only infinity pool also offers much-needed r&r.

The resort also offers a host of activities. Guests can exercise in the fitness center, engage in water sports, or discover scuba diving. All are made better by the pristine surroundings. Finally, there are a whopping 15 food and beverage outlets to choose from. Private dining on the beach is also an option. Coupled with its 5-star service, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi undoubtedly offers amazing overwater villas with glass floors in the Maldives.

Adaaran Prestige Vado

Adaaran Prestige Vado has an amazing standard Maldives water villa with a glass floor. Located on a short 15-minute speedboat from Male, it’s the most bang-for-buck resort on the list so far. In fact, every entry-level villa here has a glass bathroom floor and a private plunge pool. The villas are also well-designed for maximum sun and privacy, with sunrise and sunset-facing options. They’re some of the best standard rooms available in their price range.

Additionally, Adaaran Prestige Vado has immaculate white sand beaches, equally beautiful azure waters, and impeccable service. 24-hour butler service is available, as is in-room dining. Otherwise, two restaurants and two bars offer an array of options. Of course, there are watersports available, an overwater spa, and even a doctor on site. In view of all of the above, Adaaran Prestige Vado has some of the best Maldives glass floor water villas.

Six Senses Laamu

The Six Senses Laamu is an eco-conscious resort located on Olhuveli Island, a 40-minute seaplane and short boat ride from Male. The Six Senses is one of the best resorts in the Maldives for couples, and it also has some of the best glass-bottom features. Moreover, all of its over-water villas have glass floors in the most peculiar of places. For instance, there’s no need for magazines or your phone while in the loo. Evidently, there’s a glass floor in front of each toilet. Endless entertainment! Furthermore, even the entry-level water villas feature a glass bathtub sitting over a glass floor.

Given the preference for outdoor baths and showers in the Maldives, the Six Senses has certainly made bathing indoors more fun. Finally, the Six Senses is one of the only resorts in the Maldives with good waves to surf, as well as an in-house marine biology team. The vibes here are very much barefoot luxury with all the class and comfort of less castaway-style resorts. For this reason (and more), the Six Senses Laamu has my favorite Maldives glass floor water villa.

Westin Maldives Miriandhoo

The Westin Miriandhoo is located in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of the Baa Atoll. A 35-minute flight from Male, it’s a wonderful escape from the outside world. The Westin is notable because it has one of the largest glass floors on the list while also being the third most affordable. And while the glass floor isn’t found in its entry-level villa, even the Pool Villa is far less expensive than resorts higher on the list.

Compared to some of the other resorts on the list, the Westin is a bit further. But the location is drop-dead gorgeous, and a paradise for divers. Guests can swim with manta rays from June – September. Whale sharks are also frequently spotted. And guests can easily book dives with the in-house PADI Dive Resort. All things considered, the Westin Miriandhoo is an excellent choice for a water villa in the Maldives with a glass floor.

Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa

Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa is located in the Meemu Atoll, a 45-minute seaplane flight from the capital. Hakuraa Huraa earns its well-deserved spot on this list due to its entry-level villas all having glass floors. Not to mention, it’s all-inclusive. That makes it one of the best value picks on the list. And although it’s a great bang for buck, it is not cheap. Hakuraa Huraa still offers first-class amenities and 5-star service. Guests are made to feel like kings, and the effort shows.

The resort offers a world-class spa, as well as a fitness center. An overwater bar offers nightly entertainment, and watersports are readily available. On the whole, past guests have nothing but good things to say about their experiences at Cinnamon. With this in mind, it’s a great choice for a Maldives glass floor water villa.

Adaaran Club Rannalhi

Adaaran Club Rannalhi is another Adaaran property that makes the list. Located in the South Male Atoll, it’s reachable via a 45-minute speedboat transfer. Above all, Club Rannalhi is a top-value pick. The price listed on the table is all-inclusive for two guests. And yes, the entry-level water villa has a massive glass floor. The overwater bungalows feature some of the largest glass floors on the list. Even more, the villas themselves are also quite spacious and sit over a perfectly turquoise lagoon.

Resort amenities include a spa, water sports, and four all-inclusive dining options. There are even theme nights for a little bit of fun. Furthermore, the resort also offers Chinese and Russian-speaking staff, making it one of the most internationally accessible properties on this list. With so much to offer and at such a great price, it’s a given Club Rannalhi has some of the best water villas in the Maldives with glass floors.

Grand Park Kodhipparu

Grand Park Kodhipparu is the last resort on my list, and it is the quintessential Maldives glass floor water villa. Located in the North Male atoll, it’s only a 20-minute speedboat from Male. Each of its water villas features a glass floor looking down into the crystal clear lagoon. Idyllic is an understatement. Each of the rooms also features an overwater hammock. And upgrading to a poolwater villa still makes it the second most affordable room on the list.

Even without the private pool, guests are welcome to lounge in the resort’s infinity pool. There is, of course, a spa, dive center, and water sports. Feel free to bring the kids as well, since a Kids Club is on hand to entertain the little ones. Finally, there are three restaurants and a bar to choose from, with the food well-rated by guests. In short, Grand Park Kodhipparu is a great choice for couples or families seeking a water villa in the Maldives with a glass floor.
