THE WEEKLY #256: BACK TO THE ROOTS

THE WEEKLY #256: BACK TO THE ROOTS

The two years I spent on the island of Oahu were easily the most transformative period of my life. I transitioned from a life of soccer and study to adventure, exploration, photography, and entrepreneurship. The island holds a lot of great memories for me not just based on the fun adventures but the entire transitional experience and where I’ve ended up today.

I have an entire month on Oahu before heading off to trek in Pakistan in July. This island time is cherished and will be more than enough time to soak back up the spirit of the island and enjoy some epic adventures upon the sharp ridges and below the surface in the crystal clear waters of the Pacific Ocean.

This week was about as good as it can get with a few surf sessions, two incredible hikes, free-diving with turtles, multiple acai bowls, daily poke bowls, and an exorbitant amount of sunshine. Oahu is everything I remember it to be.

I’m trying hard to soak it all in and spend as much time offline as possible. I’ve made it a habit on lots of my trips now to only have access to hotel WiFi, which I find allows me to immerse myself in my surroundings whenever I leave the hotel. The idea here in Hawaii is to be outside and active as much as possible and scale back the writing and computer time. Going with the flow of it all and happy to be in the position where I can do so.

I haven’t been taking the camera out surfing, free-diving or to the beach but here are some of my favorite shots from the mountains this week.
