THE WEEKLY #120: EAST JAVA IS INSANE & SHOOT COMPLETE

Ten days in East Java. 7 days of exploring and a few days of editing. A lifetime of memories and one epic, a short film we are super proud of.

Polarpro reached out to me a few months ago about a collaboration piece. Polarpro makes filters and accessories for GoPro, Drones, and DSLR. The beauty of this assignment was we weren’t promoting products, we were creating a film about a creator. That creator was me.

The film is centered around solo travel and my journey as a traveler, photographer and content creator. Of course, I had to bring in Nic to shoot and edit this and it has turned out to be a phenomenal collaboration.

We will have to wait for the Polarpro release to show you but it won’t be too long. I love efficiency and Nic brings some serious hustle to the table. In ten days we have created a 4-minute film, hundreds of images, more than 10 individual blog posts and a travel guide to East Java. We did this all DIY, budget travel without any guides, tours or sponsored hotels.

We stayed in homestays, houses of people we met on Instagram. At times we slept on mattresses on the floor, showered with buckets and always ate way too many Nasi Gorengs. This was an experience of a lifetime and glad to have shared it with Nic.

East Java. Let’s talk about East Java. It is insane.

Most destinations around the world have their centerpiece. It sells the most tours, it is the location the locals are proud of. East Java has five of those…. at least.

It is one of the best places in the world to do a 1-2 week road trip. You are blown away daily. Sometimes when you travel it is a nice waterfall followed by a beach. You are happy but the mind isn’t necessarily being blown on the daily. East Java blows the mind daily. From craters that look like they are hell on earth to some of the most amazing waterfalls in the world, East Java is adventure heaven.
