On my last day in Oahu I was out on a night hike when a car alarm went off in the distance. I don’t know why, but as soon as we heard it we knew it was ours. We ran back to the car as fast as we could, but the damage was done. Someone had smashed in one of the windows and taken my carry on bag, which just happened to contain more than a few of my favorite things. But that’s what they were – things. Sometimes I think we need to lose or give away the material objects that we are most attached to in order to reconnect with the things in life that truly make us happy. In the end the most valuable thing I lost that night was my computer, and all the photographs on it. But what they couldn’t take were all of the experiences collected and amazing friendships formed while taking those pictures – and that’s what it’s really all about. Photo: @everchanginghorizon

Went backcountry camping after work on Friday to escape high temperatures this weekend and while we had to scramble in the darkness and missed beautiful sunset, the views were so spectacular they left us speechless. Did anybody else go hiking this weekend?
